Weather-related power outages reported Tuesday morning

LAS CRUCES – El Paso Electric reported a power outage in the University Park area Tuesday morning that impacted about 2,500 customers.

George De La Torre, spokesperson for the electric company, said the outage was reported at 5:30 a.m. near Karen Drive and Broadmoor Drive. A branch was on a power line, which he said was a weather-related occurrence. Power was restored at 7:36 a.m.

Other smaller outages impacted several residents in the Doña Ana, Berino and Santa Teresa area. Javier Camacho with EPE public relations said they were all weather related instances as well, and power was restored before 8 a.m.
