Farmington man arrested for stabbing at city park

FARMINGTON — A Farmington man has been accused of stabbing another man during an argument at a Farmington park.

Raheem Benally, 24, has been arrested and charged with aggravated battery, according to a Farmington Police Department press release.

Officers were dispatched around 2:36 p.m. Monday to Brookhaven Park East on reports of a fight.

The victim was a 34-year-old Kirtland man who had a laceration to his neck and was transported to the San Juan Regional Medical Center.

Two men were observed leaving the scene and running up a ditch across the street from the park.

Benally was later located east of Apache Elementary School and taken into custody.

The school was placed on a preventative lockdown for the staff inside the school following the early release of students.
