Coronavirus: Montgomery school officials make change in meal pickup for students

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated parents do not have to bring their children to pick up the meals. A child is required to be present.

Montgomery Public Schools announced a change to how meals will be picked up for students starting on Monday.

Parents can pick up both breakfast and lunch at the same time.

MPS will serve meals to anyone younger than 18, regardless of what school they go to. The schools will be open 7 to 9 a.m. for breakfast and 11 a.m to 1 p.m. for lunch.

Currently, all Alabama public schools are closed until April 6, due to the spread of the novel coronavirus. As of Friday morning, 81 cases had been confirmed throughout the state. State superintendent Eric Mackey is scheduled to give a recommendation to the Governor by March 30 on whether or not to keep the schools closed longer.
