State of the State

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham is in the second year of her administration. 

The Democrat governor, working with a state House and Senate held by Democrats, has said that she will prioritize education spending and push for the passage of "red flag" gun laws this session.

The New Mexico Legislature opens a 30 day budget session today.

It will consider the governor's proposed 8 percent increase in general fund spending to over $7 billion, and a proposed $35 million to offset college tuition costs in New Mexico.
