Here are the June coronavirus updates from San Juan County, Four Corners region

The state of New Mexico, including San Juan County, started reopening many businesses on June 1. That includes indoor dining, gyms, hair salons and drive-in movie theaters.

The northwest region of the state had been excluded from previous reopening orders and lagged behind the state in the reopening process due to the high rate of spread. However, it has now caught up to where the rest of the state is in terms of reopening.

The first case of the coronavirus documented in San Juan County was announced on March 21.

A piece of artwork reminds community members to stay at home on April 25 in Shiprock. The Navajo Nation is under a weekend curfew to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

Updates for Tuesday, June 30

10:20 p.m.: The Navajo Nation had one of its lowest reports of new positive cases of COVID-19 today.

There were 17 news cases reported by the Navajo Department of Health, Navajo Area Indian Health Service and Navajo Epidemiology Center. This brings the total number of cases to 7,549.

One additional death was reported, raising the death toll to 364.

Twelve hospitals and clinics on or near the reservation report 5,218 people have recovered from the disease. There have been 55,626 individual who have been tested.

The agencies shifted reporting the number of cases in each county that comprises tribal land in Arizona, New Mexico and Utah to reporting cases in the eight service units under the Navajo Area IHS.

Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez and Vice President Myron Lizer signed today a new executive order to extend the closure of government offices through July 26.

The tribe's department of health ordered residents be placed under lockdown for the following weekends: July 3 to July 6, July 10 to July 13 and July 17 to July 20.

Each lockdown will start at 8 p.m. Fridays and end at 5 a.m. Mondays.

4 p.m.: New Mexico health officials are reporting 168 new cases of COVID-19, including 17 in San Juan County and 28 in McKinley County.

The new cases raise the number of New Mexicans who have tested positive for the coronavirus to 12,147. Of those people, 5,393 have recovered, 127 are hospitalized and 497 have died.

The number of coronavirus-related fatalities increased by four on June 30, including a Beehive Homes resident in his 70s.

8:55 a.m.: There were no reported deaths from COVID-19 for the Navajo Nation on June 29, keeping the death toll at 363, according to the Navajo Department of Health, Navajo Area Indian Health Service and Navajo Epidemiology Center.

However, the agencies reported 63 new positive cases for the disease. The latest number brings the total number of cases to 7,532.

Twelve hospitals and clinics on or near the Navajo Nation indicate that 5,095 individuals have recovered from COVID-19. There have been 54,734 people who have been tested.

The agencies shifted reporting the number of cases in each county that comprises tribal land in Arizona, New Mexico and Utah to reporting cases in the eight service units under the Navajo Area IHS.

Update for Monday, June 29

3:40 p.m.: The New Mexico Department of Health is reporting 173 new cases of COVID-19, including 13 in San Juan County and 11 in McKinley County.

State health officials also reported that a San Juan County resident in her 50s died on Sunday after being hospitalized with the coronavirus. She had underlying medical conditions. Her death was not included in the June 27 report.

Including the new cases, there have now been 11,982 New Mexicans test positive for COVID-19. Of those people, 5,296 have recovered, 493 have died and 119 are hospitalized in New Mexico.

Updates for Sunday, June 28

4:18 p.m.: The Navajo Nation’s 57-hour weekend lockdown is in effect until Monday, June 29 at 5 a.m. It mandated the closure of all businesses.

The Navajo Nation's top leaders urged caution and patience Sunday.

“Wearing masks is helping to flatten the curve,” said Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez. “Let’s pray for those in surrounding states that are seeing spikes in COVID-19. The Navajo Nation is no longer the hotspot in the country or in any state. Some states are struggling and it’s those that relaxed their precautions early on including the state of Arizona.”

Nez said he knows there is a level of frustration out rthere over continuing weekend lockdowns, but he and Vice President Myron Lizer said in the release that the Navajo Nation’s health care system can’t withstand the spike in cases a resugenceof the virus would bring.

“We cannot let that happen,” Nez said. “Weekend lockdowns are slowing down the virus. For those who are choosing to leave the Nation on weekends, please think of your loved ones especially your elders."

3:58 p.m.: New Mexico state health officials on Sunday announced 192 additional COVID-19 cases, and one new death. A man in his 50s from Doña Ana County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions died due to the virus.

The number of deaths of New Mexico residents related to COVID-19 is now 492.

As of today, there are 114 individuals hospitalized in New Mexico for COVID-19 and there are 5,264 COVID-19 cases the New Mexico Department of Health has designated as having recovered from the infection.

1 p.m.: Navajo Department of Health has reported 94 additional positive cases of coronavirus on the Navajo Nation with 12 more known deaths.

That pushes the total of positive COVID-19 cases on the reservation to 7,414 as of Saturday night with the death toll now at 362.

Preliminary reports from 12 health care facilities indicate about 5,068 people have recovered from COVID-19.

Tribal health officials said 53,913 people have been tested for the coronavirus so far.

The Navajo Nation stretches into northeastern Arizona, northwestern New Mexico and southeastern Utah.

For most people, the coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks.

But for some — especially older adults and people with existing health problems — it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death. — The Associated Press

3:51 p.m.: The number of New Mexicans who have tested positive for COVID-19 increased by 209 on June 27, according to a press release from the governor's office. The new cases include 78 in San Juan County and 23 in McKinley County.

Health officials say 11,619 New Mexicans have tested positive for the coronavirus. Of those people, 5,251 have recovered, 122 are hospitalized and 491 have died.

The number of coronavirus-related fatalities increased by two. One of the deaths was a San Juan County man in his 80s who was hospitalized and had underlying medical conditions.

There have been 2,357 cases in San Juan County with 161 deaths, according to the New Mexico Department of Health.

Update for Friday, June 26

5:30 p.m.: The number of New Mexicans who have tested positive for COVID-19 increased by 225 on June 26, according to a press release from the governor's office. The new cases include nine in San Juan County and 74 in McKinley County.

Health officials say 11,408 New Mexicans have tested positive for the coronavirus. Of those people, 5,149 have recovered, 128 are hospitalized and 489 have died.

The number of coronavirus-related fatalities increased by four. All four were McKinley County residents.

"Today, we have seen an increase in COVID-19 cases of over 100, which is alarming. However, the increase of COVID-19 blitz testing within the nation is a factor. Traveling, not wearing a face mask, not cleaning and disinfecting, and not practicing social distancing increases your chances of getting infected and spreading COVID-19. Staying home or staying at an isolation site is the best way to protect yourself and others from getting sick. 3:20 p.m.: New Mexico Department of Health officials are reporting 207 new cases of COVID-19 on June 25, including 18 in San Juan County and 37 in McKinley County.

The number of New Mexicans who have tested positive for the coronavirus passed 11,000, reaching 11,192. Of these people, 5,047 have recovered, 135 are hospitalized and 485 have died.

Health officials reported five new coronavirus-related deaths, including three San Juan County residents. Those residents include a man in his 50s who had underlying health conditions and was hospitalized, a Cedar Ridge Inn resident in his 70s with underlying conditions and a Beehive Homes resident in her 80s with underlying medical conditions.

9:50 p.m.: The Navajo Department of Health, Navajo Area Indian Health Service and Navajo Epidemiology Center report 11 additional deaths related to COVID-19 today, bringing the death toll on the Navajo Nation to 347.

The agencies also report 69 new cases, raising that total to 7,157. Eleven hospitals on or near the reservation report 3,802 people have recovered from the disease.

There have been 51,144 people who have been tested for COVID-19.

A press release from the Office of the President and Vice President states that health care personnel are reporting cases of people drinking hand sanitizer, which has resulted in hospital visits and several people are in critical condition.

The release states that swallowing alcohol-based hand sanitizers can cause alcohol poisoning.

"Hand sanitizer should be stored out of reach of children and should be used with adult supervision. Do not use hand sanitizers that contain methanol. Substantial methanol exposure can result in nausea, vomiting, headache, blurred vision, permanent blindness, seizures, coma, permanent damage to the nervous system, or death," the release states.

4 p.m.: The New Mexico Department of Health reported 156 new cases of COVID-19 on June 24, including 14 in San Juan County and 24 in McKinley County.

The latest data brings the number of New Mexicans who have tested positive for the coronavirus to 10,990. Of those people 4,984 have recovered, 149 are hospitalized and 480 have died.

State health officials announced four new coronavirus-related fatalities, including a San Juan County resident in his 70s who had underlying medical conditions and was hospitalized.

"The number of positive cases is decreasing, and there are more recoveries each day, and it gives us hope that we are doing the right thing by staying home, washing our hands, and wearing a face mask. We can beat this virus," Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez said in a press release from his office.

4 p.m.: The New Mexico Department of Health reported 147 new cases of COVID-19 on June 23. The new cases include 41 in San Juan County and 50 in McKinley County.

Including the new cases, 10,838 New Mexicans have tested positive for the coronavirus. Of those people, 4,874 have recovered, 141 are hospitalized and 476 have died.

Health officials reported seven new coronavirus-related fatalities, including a San Juan County resident in her 60s who was hospitalized and had underlying medical conditions.

7:20 p.m.: The Navajo Department of Health, Navajo Area Indian Health Service and Navajo Epidemiology Center report 55 new positive COVID-19 cases for the Navajo Nation today.

There are now 7,045 people who have tested positive for the disease and 11 hospitals on or near the tribal land indicate 3,716 individuals have recovered.

The health agencies did not report any deaths today, keeping the death toll at 335.

The agencies shifted reporting the number of cases in each county that comprises tribal land in Arizona, New Mexico and Utah to reporting cases in the eight service units under the Navajo Area IHS.

The report for today states that 49,444 people have been tested for COVID-19.

The Navajo Nation Office of the President and Vice President reminds the public there is a curfew from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. weekdays.

"Navajo police continue to enforce the daily curfew and may issue a citation to curfew violators," according to the office.

5 p.m.: New Mexico health officials reported 128 new cases of COVID-19, including 11 in San Juan County and 32 in McKinley County. There were no new coronavirus-related deaths reported on June 22.

The new cases raised the number of New Mexicans who have tested positive for the virus to 10,694. Of those people, 4,742 have recovered and 139 are hospitalized.

12:33 a.m.: There were 27 new positive cases of COVID-19 on the Navajo Nation and one new death reported Sunday, according to figures from the Navajo Department of Health, in coordination with the Navajo Epidemiology Center and the Navajo Area Indian Health Service.

That brings the total number of cases on the Navajo Nation to 6,990. There were 335 deaths due to the virus reported as of Sunday, according to a press release from the Office of the President and Vice President emailed early on Monday.

About 3,603 people have recovered from the virus, with one health care facility report still pending, the release stated.

In all, 49,027 Navajo Nation residents have been tested for COVID-19.

"Staying home, washing our hands, cleaning and disinfecting high-touched surfaces, wearing a face mask, and staying six feet away from others can protect us,” said Vice President Myron Lizer in the release. “As we enter into a new week, we ask our citizens to be safe and be alert. Help each other to take care of one another."

Updates for Sunday, June 21

Health officials in New Mexico reported 136 more coronavirus cases around the state Sunday.

There were three more known deaths.

Two women in their 50s who were McKinley County residents accounted for two of the three new deaths with the third being a San Juan County man in his 70s. All had been hospitalized with underlying medical conditions.

Of the new cases, 11 were reported in San Juan County.

The increases raised New Mexico’s total number of cases to 10,565 and the death toll to 469.

Officials said 4,684 people who had COVID-19 in New Mexico have recovered.

Department of Health officials said 41 of the new cases involve state or federal inmates at the Otero County Prison Facility in southern New Mexico.

9:27 a.m.: There were 85 new COVID-19 cases and two more deaths related to the disease for the Navajo Nation on June 18.

The total number of cases rose to 6,832 and the total number of deaths reached 324, according to information released at 10:52 p.m. Thursday by the Navajo Nation Office of the President and Vice President.

Approximately 3,342 individuals have recovered from the disease, according to 11 hospitals on and near the reservation. The number of people who have been tested for COVID-19 is 46,449.

"The Navajo Nation no longer has the highest number of cases per capita in the United States because we implemented proactive public health orders to slow the spread of COVID-19. The state of Arizona relaxed its preventive measures, and the number of cases and hospitalizations continue to drastically increase. We cannot put our nation in the same situation. Now is not the time to let our guard down. Don't back down," tribal President Jonathan Nez said in a press release from his office.

The release also states that the Navajo Police Department and county sheriff departments will conduct checkpoints on roads throughout the Navajo Nation during the 57-hour lockdown this weekend.

"Curfew violators who receive a criminal nuisance citation could be fined up to $1,000 and/or up to 30 days in jail. All businesses on the nation will be closed during the lockdown and all Navajo tribal parks are closed to visitors until further notice," the release states.

4 p.m.: The New Mexico Department of Health is reporting 138 new cases of COVID-19, including 13 in San Juan County and 20 in McKinley County. The largest number of new cases reported Wednesday were at the Otero County Prison Facility where 30 people being held by federal agencies and eight New Mexico Department of Corrections inmates tested positive for the coronavirus.

Health officials also reported five coronavirus-related deaths on Wednesday. None of those fatalities were San Juan County residents.

There have been 10,065 New Mexicans test positive for COVID-19. Of those people, 4,351 have recovered, 161 are hospitalized and 452 have died.

A new public health emergency order was issued today, to reinstate the 57-hour curfew for the remaining weekends this month as well as a travel advisory outside the Navajo Nation.

According to a press release from the Office of the President and Vice President, the first lockdown will be from 8 p.m. June 19 to 5 a.m. June 22 and the second will take place from 8 p.m. June 26 to 5 a.m. June 29.

"All individuals should remain home during the lockdown hours except in the event of an emergency. The daily curfew exempts essential employees with official documentation or a letter of designation from their employer with official letterhead and contact information for verification. The weekend lockdown also requires the closure of all businesses on the Navajo Nation," the release states.

4 p.m.: New Mexico saw fewer than 100 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. The department of health reported 88 new cases, including six in San Juan County and 13 in McKinley County. The new cases raised the total number of New Mexicans who have tested positive for the coronavirus to 9,933. Of those people, 4,217 have recovered, 156 are hospitalized and 447 have died.

The number of fatalities increased by seven on Tuesday. Three of those seven were San Juan County residents including a man in his 50s with underlying medical conditions, a woman in her 70s who was hospitalized and had underlying medical conditions and a Beehive Homes resident in his 90s who was hospitalized.

7:45 a.m.: The Navajo Nation saw one of its lowest increase in daily cases on June 15, with 22 new COVID-19 cases and no additional deaths reported by health agencies.

The new cases bring the total number to 6,633 while the death toll remains at 311, according to details released yesterday at 10:24 p.m. by the Navajo Nation Office of the President and Vice President on behalf of the Navajo Department of Health, Navajo Area Indian Health Service and Navajo Epidemiology Center.

The release states that 11 hospitals report approximately 3,207 people have recovered from the disease and 44,589 individuals have been tested for COVID-19.

"Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez and Vice President Myron Lizer continue to urge Navajo citizens to remain home as much as possible to avoid another spike in new cases, especially as other areas in the state of Arizona continue to see daily increases in new cases," the press release from their office states.

The leaders also remind the public that the tribe still has public health emergency orders in effect, including those to wear face masks or cloth face coverings in public settings and a daily curfew from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

There will be a town hall meeting today to update the public about COVID-19 on the Navajo Nation and about the 2020 census count. The meeting will start at 10 a.m. on the Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez and Vice President Myron Lizer Facebook page.

The president's office states that the Arizona Department of Health Services reported 1,233 new COVID-19 cases in Arizona on June 14.

"With the state of Arizona relaxing its precautions and allowing its stay-at-home order to expire, the highly-populated areas are seeing dramatic increases. I cannot stress enough to our Navajo people the importance of staying home as much as possible. It only takes a few people traveling to Phoenix or other hotspots, to catch the virus and start another wave of new cases here on the Navajo Nation. 4:46 p.m.: New Mexico state health officials Sunday announced 104 additional COVID-19 cases and four additional deaths statewide, according to a release issued this afternoon by the governor’s office.

None of the newly-reported deaths were in San Juan County. The number New Mexico residents who have died due to COVID-19 is now 435, the release stated.

As of today, there are 162 individuals hospitalized in New Mexico for COVID-19, and 4,114 people diagnosed with the virus have recovered, according to the New Mexico Department of Health.

A reporting issue that happens on Sundays means that results some private labs won’t be reported to the state Department of Health until Monday, or later, and thus couldn’t be counted among today’s numbers.

Those figures will be added to later reports.

Updates for Saturday, June 13

9:30 p.m.: There are 84 new cases of COVID-19 reported on the Navajo Nation and five more deaths, bringing the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 to 308 as of Saturday, according to a release by the Office of the President and Vice President.

According to the release, 43,970 people have been tested for COVID-19, “which represents 21.4-percent of the Navajo Nation’s population. The total number of positive COVID-19 cases for the Navajo Nation has reached 6,554.”

The release states that 11 health care facilities have reported that about 3,131 people have recovered from COVID-19. One health care facility’s report still pending.

"It’s very troubling and disheartening to hear that so many Arizona citizens are contracting COVID-19 in other parts of the state and I believe it’s the direct result of loosening restrictions far too early,” said President Jonathan Nez, who urged residents to continue strict stay-at-home and social distancing practices and to continue wearing face masks in public.

“On the Navajo Nation, we have to stay the course and we have to think of others before we go out into public,” Nez said in the release. “We no longer have the highest number of cases per capita and it’s because we implemented proactive preventative measures that are still in place. We are also testing our people at a much higher rate than anywhere else in the country."

Vice resident Myron Lizer said science will drive the timeline for reopening the government and loosening restrictions.

"As the leaders of the Navajo Nation, we will continue to rely on the data and the facts as we move forward with this pandemic,” Lizer said in the release. “We are not the experts, but we have many health care and medical experts that guide our decisions on public health orders and other measures … Now is not the time to let up."

10:24 p.m.: There were 92 new cases of COVID-19 reported today on the Navajo Nation and five new deaths. That brings the number of deaths to 303 as of Friday. The number of positive COVID-19 cases has reached 6,470.

“Reports from 11 health care facilities indicate that approximately 3,094 individuals have recovered from COVID-19, with one health care facility report still pending,” the Office of the President and Vice President said in a release tonight.

Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez and Vice President Myron Lizer urged Navajo citizens to stay home as much as possible to prevent an new spike in new cases, noting that other areas in the state of Arizona are experiencing daily increases in new cases.

"Please do not let your guard down against the coronavirus,” Nez said in the release. “We cannot go back to the way things were before the virus until the daily numbers decrease consistently and we have a vaccine. We must accept all of the preventative measures to keep our families and communities safe. It may be hard to accept the changes, but we have to create a new normal. Listening and encouraging each other will slow the spread.”

9:25 p.m.: There were 103 new cases of COVID-19 reported by the Navajo Department of Health, Navajo Area Indian Health Service and Navajo Epidemiology Center today. This brings the total number of cases to 6,378 for the Navajo Nation.

Six more people lost their lives to the disease, bringing the death toll to 298.

The information was reported in a press release from the Office of the President and Vice President, which stated that 11 hospitals indicate that approximately 3,063 people was have recovered from COVID-19.

There are 42,341 individuals who have been tested, representing 20.6% of the population on the reservation, according to the release.

8 p.m.: Ten more deaths were reported today by state health officials due to the novel coronavirus statewide. Six of those deaths were patients from San Juan County.

There were 121 additional COVID-19 cases reported Thursday, bringing the statewide total to 9,367. Eight of those new cases were reported in San Juan County, which as of today has 2,043 diagnosed COVID-19 cases.

There are 189 people hospitalized in New Mexico for COVID-19, and 3,899 people diagnosed with the virus have recovered, according to the New Mexico Department of Health.

4:30 p.m.: Two San Juan County residents — one in her 70s and the other in his 50s — have died after being hospitalized with coronavirus. They were among the six fatalities state health officials reported on Wednesday, raising the total number of deaths to 410.

10 p.m.: There were 90 new cases of COVID-19 reported today on the Navajo Nation. No recent deaths were reported Monday, leaving the death total at 277.

The total number of positive COVID-19 cases for the Navajo Nation has reached 6,110, the Navajo Department of Health reported in coordination with the Navajo Epidemiology Center and the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, according to a press release from the Office of the President and Vice President.

“Preliminary reports from 11 health care facilities indicate that approximately 2,814 individuals have recovered from COVID-19, with one health care facility report still pending,” the release said.

Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez said residents must “stay the course” and keep beating projections of virus spread to avoid a deadly second wave of infections.

"In other parts of Arizona there continues to be increases in new cases of COVID-19 since the Memorial Day weekend,” Nez said in the release. “Here on the Navajo Nation, we are maintaining a steady flattening of the curve in terms of new cases. We can’t let up – this may seem repetitive, but we have to keep saying it over and over so that our people understand the severity and understand that there will be consequences if we allow ourselves to become too relaxed.”

4:40 p.m.: San Juan County saw an increase of 44 new positive COVID-19 cases on Sunday, while the state saw a total of 143 new cases. San Juan County had the largest number of new cases reported on Sunday. McKinley County had the second highest number, with 37 new cases.

The 143 new cases raised the number of New Mexicans who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus to 8,940. Of those people, 3,307 have recovered, 177 are hospitalized and 396 have died.

The 396 fatalities include four new ones reported on Sunday. Two of those deaths were San Juan County residents. One was a Beehive Homes resident in his 80s with underlying medical conditions. The other was a man in his 60s who was hospitalized and had underlying medical conditions.

8:12 p.m.: There are 110 new positive COVID-19 cases for the Navajo Nation on June 6. The latest additions raise the total number of cases to 5,918.

Five more people have died related to the disease. The death toll is now 274.

Preliminary reports from 11 hospitals indicate that approximately 2,686 individuals have recovered from the disease.

"Here on the Navajo Nation we must remain diligent, continue to stay home as much as possible, and hold each other accountable for complying with the public health orders. Our healthcare system cannot afford to see another spike, so let’s not let up and let’s keep fighting," said Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez said in a release from his office.

In the press release, Nez's office reminds the public that there is a curfew from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily.

Navajo Police Department officers are still enforcing the daily curfew and can issue citations to those who violate the curfew.

4 p.m.: New Mexico saw an increase of 129 new cases of coronavirus on Saturday, including 29 in San Juan County and 40 in McKinley County.

A San Juan County resident in his 50s who had COVID-19 as well as underlying conditions was among the five people whose deaths were announced on Friday by state officials.

These five new deaths brings New Mexico to 392 coronavirus-related fatalities.

There have been 8,800 New Mexicans test positive for the disease. Of those, 3,286 have recovered and 176 are currently hospitalized in state.

10:39 p.m.: There are 78 new positive COVID-19 cases for the Navajo Nation today. The latest additions raise the total number of cases to 5,808.

Five more people have died related to the disease. The death toll is now 269.

Preliminary reports from 11 hospitals indicate tat approximately 2,576 individuals have recovered from the disease.

"There are many recoveries, but (we) must still practice preventative measures, such as planning, wearing face masks, washing our hands, maintaining a distance of six feet from others, and cleaning and disinfecting high-touch surfaces. We must not let our guard down and protect each other," said Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez said in a release from his office.

The total number of cases has reached 5,730 and the number of deaths related to the disease is 264, according to the Navajo Department of Health, Navajo Area Indian Health Service and Navajo Epidemiology Center.

Preliminary reports from 10 hospitals indicate the approximately 2,174 people have recovered.

The agencies shifted reporting the number of cases in each county that comprises tribal land in Arizona, New Mexico and Utah to reporting cases in the eight service units under the Navajo Area IHS.

10:10 p.m.: Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez and Vice President Myron Lizer signed an executive order today to extend the closure of the tribal government to July 5.

They also announced that the 57-hour weekend curfews have paused but the nightly curfew remains in effect.

The Navajo Department of Health, Navajo Area Indian Health Service and Navajo Epidemiology Center report 128 new positive cases for COVID-19 and seven more deaths.

The total number of cases has reached 5,661 and the death toll is now 259.

4:15 p.m.: Three more San Juan County residents have died of the coronavirus, according to the New Mexico Department of Health. Two of them were in their 60s and were hospitalized. They also had underlying medical conditions. The third was a resident of Life Care Center of Farmington who was in her 80s and hospitalized. She also had underlying medical conditions.

There were a total of eight deaths announced on Wednesday and 122 new cases of COVID-19. Of those new cases, seven were San Juan County residents. McKinley County saw the largest increase in cases — 37 new cases.

New Mexico has had 8,140 people test positive for COVID-19. Of those people, 170 are hospitalized, 375 have died and 3,013 have recovered.

The New Mexico Department of Health also reported five coronavirus-related deaths, including one San Juan County resident in her 50s who was hospitalized and had underlying medical conditions.
