Boil water advisory lifted for Morningstar

FARMINGTON – The New Mexico Environment Department’s Drinking Water Bureau has lifted the boil water advisory for the Morningstar Water System, according to a press release issued late today by the department.

The release states the boil water advisory for the Harvest Gold Water System remains in effect, according to the press release.

Animas Valley Water owns and operates the Morningstar and Harvest Gold water systems, which serve Crouch Mesa and areas of Bloomfield.

The boil water advisory for the Morningstar Water System had been in place since June 3 due to high levels of turbidity in the water.

The environment department continues to investigate the "turbidity readings" for the Morningstar Water System, the release states.

Before the advisory was lifted, the Drinking Water Bureau conducted verification sampling to confirm the results of sampling done on the Morningstar Water System, according to the release.

The release states the environment department required AV Water to discontinue using the Morningstar Surface Water Treatment Plant.

In addition, the company had to connect the Morningstar Water System to the Farmington water system, conduct system-wide flushing of the distribution system and conduct sampling throughout the distribution system.
