LAS CRUCES – Former New Mexico State star Trevelin Queen has signed with the Houston Rockets' G League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

The 6-foot-6 forward averaged a team-high 13.2 points and 2.7 assists per game with the Aggies last season in what marked his senior campaign.

After not being selected in the 2020 NBA Draft, Queen reached an agreement with the Houston Rockets on Nov. 19, 2020, to compete for a roster spot during the team's training camp.

The Rockets later waived Queen on Dec. 16, but he now has an opportunity to showcase his talent with the Vipers.

The 2020-2021 G League season is set to begin on February 8 and will take place at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney World near Orlando, Florida.

Eighteen teams are set to play a schedule of 15-17 games inside the same bubble environment that hosted last season's NBA Playoffs. The Vipers have won the NBA G League Championship in 2010, 2013 and 2019.

Players such as Atlanta Hawks center Clint Capela, Los Angeles Lakers center Montrezl Harrell and Portland Trail Blazers forward Robert Covington have all suited up for Rio Grande Valley at one point.

Meanwhile, another former Aggie is gearing up for the bubble. The Delaware Blue Coats, an affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers, selected Jemerrio Jones with their second-round pick in the 2020-2021 G League Draft on Jan. 11.

Jones played for New Mexico State from 2016-2018. Since then, the 6-foot-5 stat stuffer has suited up for the Los Angeles Lakers and a number of G League squads.

Jones earned a spot on the All-NBA G League third team last season as a member of the Wisconsin Herd, an affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, after averaging 10.8 points and 12.2 rebounds per contest.
