LAS CRUCES - New Mexico State running back Josh Foley has entered the Transfer Portal.

"Things just didn't go well or as planned at New Mexico State," Foley said. "I'm just looking forward to another opportunity at another school."

Foley, a product of Rio Rancho High School, was a redshirt freshman on the 2019 Aggies roster. Foley appeared in two games this season, highlighted by a 51-yard rushing game against Alabama on seven carries.

Foley is the first Aggies player from last year's team to enter the Transfer Portal. Foley said he has not had contact yet with a potential landing spot, but playing time was a determining factor.

"I don't have any specific place in mind at this point," Foley said. "I just want to go somewhere where I can get on the field."

The Aggies currently have four running backs slated to return next season with Michigan transfer and Los Lunas High graduate O’Maury Samuels and freshman Juwaun Price expected to compete for carries in spring practice.

"I made a bunch of good friends and I wish all of my teammates the best," Foley said. "I met friends for life from New Mexico State. I want to thank (Oliver Soukup) for recruiting me out of high school. There are a lot of good people that I met and will know for the rest of my life."
