Fan on the field briefly halts Super Bowl 55 between Buccaneers and Chiefs in fourth quarter

Play was briefly halted in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl 55 when a fan ran onto the Raymond James Stadium field.  

The Kansas City Chiefs had the ball trailing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-9 with 5:03 remaining when a man came into view on the CBS broadcast sprinting across the field, bringing play to a halt. The network quickly cut away and went to commercial. 

In the stadium, the fan managed to evade two security guards around the 30-yard line during his length-of-the-field sprint. The fan was finally corralled around the end zone when he was brought down by a security guard and quickly pounced on by several others. Police confirmed Monday that a Florida man was arrested and charged with trespassing over the incident.

The man was wearing black shorts (which he attempted to remove fully to no avail) and a pink one-piece that was emblazoned with the words "Vitaly Uncensored." He began his run wearing a mask but removed it and held it in his hand while he was on the field.

Kevin Harlan, calling the game on radio, had yet another brilliant call for the occasion: 

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes was sacked on the ensuing play when the game restarted after the fan was escorted from the field. Kansas City would not score again as the Bucs secured their second Super Bowl championship.
